Cancer and Psychotherapy

Receiving news of a cancer diagnosis is a shocking event for anyone, including the patient of course, but also the people in their lives. Much of my career has been dedicated to working with people touched by cancer. For many, cancer is life altering at every stage of the process, from diagnosis to living life after treatment. Even the most caring and competent oncologists lack time and specialized training to fully address the emotional needs of their patients and families.

A powerful part of the healing process can come through working with an experienced therapist to learn how to effectively cope with the challenges of diagnosis, treatment, navigating through the medical system, and putting the best support system in place for oneself. I have dedicated a large part of my career to working with people touched by cancer. I assist people to express the burdens that come with cancer, but also to locate their resilience in the face of the struggle. When circumstances have turned to the final stages of illness, I work with patients and their families to embrace this stage with dignity.

If you or someone you know is newly facing cancer or has been suffering for a long time with how to cope better with cancer, please consider contacting me to set up an appointment.
